Esteban has an ongoing interest in the intersection of art, architecture, sustainable design and urbanism. He has worked on a range of projects in architecture and urbanism from design, concept development, graphic design, and representation, to construction administration, mapping, and planning. Building on his research in sustainable urban energy systems at UBC, Esteban is especially interested in District Energy. Particularly its crucial role in transforming cities into lower-carbon urban environments, and the importance of successfully integrating this new generation of infrastructure into our urban fabric. He has presented his research to various municipalities, educational institutions and design firms. He co-presented a session on this topic at the CaGBC in June 2015.
