DIALOG Calgary wins big at MUDA
Thursday was a big night for DIALOG Calgary at the City of Calgary’s Mayor’s Urban Design Awards.
We picked up five awards in total!
The New Central Library (with our partner Snøhetta) won the prestigious Mawson Urban Development Award. The award is given to Individual building or a composition of buildings that achieve urban design excellence and creativity through awareness of the Calgary context.The project also tied with three others for the People’s Choice Award.
The MacKimmie Complex at the University of Calgary took first place in the Green City category for its innovative net zero carbon design.
The Green City Award Recognizes sustainable design practices that seek to reduce energy and resource consumption of buildings while achieving urban design excellence and related social benefits.
The 5th Street Underpass Enhancement took top honours in the Conceptual Theoretical Urban Design category which recognizes a study or plan within Calgary that provides a strategy for urban transformation that has no official construction status.
And the 9th Avenue SE Streetscape Master Plan was named the best Urban Design Plan of 2019. The award is given to a plan or study within a Canadian municipality that provides a development or redevelopment strategy for urban transformation in the mid- to long-term
