DIALOG makes a mark on Alberta Urban Design
We’re making a mark on the urban environment in Alberta cities, and it shows! DIALOG is proud to receive Urban Design Awards in both Edmonton and Calgary.
Enbridge Centre in Edmonton picked up the Civic Design Award of Merit and the Heritage Projects Award of Excellence. This tower in the heart of Edmonton’s financial district incorporated the historic façade of two buildings that previously resided at the site. The original facades were carefully deconstructed then put back into place on the podium—brick by brick—to celebrate the site’s history.
Congratulations to all Edmonton Urban Design Award winners.
Set to open in 2018, Calgary’s New Central Library, received the Great City, Great Design award. The library will strengthen the fabric of community life by weaving East Village, the original heart of Calgary, back into the story of Centre City. Plus, this is the first time in Calgary’s history that an active LRT line has been encased in an above-grade development project. We’re pretty proud to be a part of it.
Congratulations to all Calgary Urban Design Award winners, too!
What’s the Urban Design Awards?
Every two years, the Royal Architecture Institute of Canada (RAIC), the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects partner with Canadian municipalities to host urban design awards. The awards program celebrates urban design and architectural excellence, and the role they play in enhancing the quality of life in Canadian cities.
