Donna Clare inducted into the City of Edmonton Hall of Fame
We are so proud to share the news that Donna Clare, DIALOG principal and architect, has been inducted into the City of Edmonton Arts and Culture Hall of Fame as an Artist/Builder! Fittingly, this well-deserved recognition was celebrated at a public ceremony at the Winspear Centre—a cultural landmark that she designed.
In Edmonton, it’s hard to list an arts and cultural institution that Donna hasn’t left her mark on. Donna has been intimately involved in the design of Edmonton cultural landmarks such as Royal Alberta Museum, Francis Winspear Centre for Music, ATB Financial Arts Barns, Citadel Theatre renovations, St. Joseph Seminary, Edmonton Convention Centre’s Hall D, and Telus World of Science expansion.
Not only does she design spaces for Edmontonians to indulge in the arts, the spaces she creates have their own unique history and culture embedded into the design. She has creatively influenced the way Edmontonians experience the arts. And she has enriched the experience of Edmonton’s culture through her design of public spaces such as the Walterdale Bridge and the Mechanized River Valley Access.
Donna’s success lies in her unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of our community and believes that art and architecture play a vital role.
“Art and architecture connect us to our past, help us be fully present in the moment and inspire us to imagine the future—to be curious, courageous, and open to the possibilities of what might be.” -Donna Clare
What is the Hall of Fame?
The Hall of Fame is part of the City of Edmonton’s Salute to Excellence Awards that honour Edmontonians who have contributed to the unique and diverse fabric of our community. Edmonton is strengthened by the personal efforts of many individuals and groups. Their dedication, talents and achievements provide leadership, vision and a reason to celebrate the city and its citizens. Since 1951, Salute to Excellence has encouraged Edmontonians to continue in their endeavours through public recognition at our annual ceremonies.
“The Salute to Excellence Awards is the highest form of recognition and acknowledgement for work done by individuals to make Edmonton even better. As Edmontonians, we have all benefited from each inductee’s leadership and passion to continually raise the bar and enrich our communities.” -Todd Janes, Chair of the Salute to Excellence Council.
Congratulations, Donna, and all of the other well-deserving inductees!
