Jill Robertson among Edmonton’s best and brightest young leaders
Every year, Avenue Magazine publishes their highly anticipated list of Edmonton’s Top 40 Under 40. Each cohort is a cross-section of the young movers and shakers around the city that are making Edmonton a more vibrant, livable, healthy, and generally awesome place to live and work. This year, we’re proud to share that our very own Jill Robertson, a principal and landscape architect from our Edmonton studio, is named Top 40 Under 40.
Jill stands out in our studio as a culture booster and passionate designer that leads her team and clients to do great work. She caught the eye of Top 40 Under 40 judges for her commitment to building a more inclusive city, putting her heart into all of her work from DIALOG projects to tactical urbanism initiatives like Park(ing) Day and 100in1day. If you’ve had the opportunity to attend a public engagement session led by Jill, you’ll have witnessed her incredible enthusiasm and unfettered passion for bringing people together. She finds innovative ways of gathering input and sharing planning concepts with the communities involved. She makes urban planning and landscape architecture concepts easy for the public to understand, and it’s hard not to get as excited as she does about design and city building when you’re talking with her.

What does it mean to you to be awarded the top 40 under 40 honours?
Jill: It is a huge honour! I am in awe of the contributions that this year’s class have made to the City of Edmonton, and so proud and humbled to stand with them. It is inspiring to see the diversity, passion, and commitment that these amazing Edmontonians bring to our City, and it makes me so excited and optimistic for our future.
How can others work towards Top 40 Under 40 status?
Jill: Do great work, follow your passions, lead by example, and enjoy the journey. I really believe that when you love what you do, you can do it well and share that energy and commitment with others. I think that is the key to making positive change in our world.
Why is the Top 40 Under 40 award program important for Edmonton?
Jill: I believe that Top 40 is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of Edmontonians who are just beginning to have an impact on our City. Imagine the transformation and positive change that these individuals will have over their lifetime? That is some pretty amazing potential!
