Let’s Get Walking: 360 Degree City Podcast Interviews DIALOG’s Jill Robertson
Earlier this month, Jill Robertson and others hosted a Jane’s Walk called “Exploring the Edmonton Funicular.” One of the walkers that joined them was the host of a podcast called 360 Degree City that discusses cities from every angle.
The host, John Lewis, talked with Jill about the design of Mechanized River Valley Access, and appreciating our city through walking.
“You experience the city very differently at a pedestrian scale. You’re travelling at a different speed, you have a different perspective. You can reach out and touch things. You experience the air. It’s so different from being in a car. The interesting aspect of [Mechanized River Valley Access] is we’ve intentionally created views and opportunities that you can’t experience from a car… It allows people to interact with their environment in a very different way. We can smell things, I feel the wind on my face and the sun on my back. You don’t get that experience in a car.”
