YYC ready for takeoff
Start packing your bags, the new YYC international terminal is officially open to the world. And from the first sketches back in 2007, to the grand opening of Canada’s newest connector hub in fall 2016, DIALOG has been there every step of the way.
We’re changing the nature of air travel through design. It’s time for takeoff – check out three ways in which DIALOG’s design sets YYC apart from the rest:
1. Passengers first: Ahhh…now you can enjoy the journey. YYC is designed with the traveller in mind – with the overall number of gates is minimized by 40%, streamlined connections services, and compelling retail environments designed to de-stress – your experience at YYC will make you never want to leave.
2. Views for days: Picture the iconic Rocky Mountains andglacial lakes that Alberta is famous for. Now, picture that in the YYC airport terminal. Specifically designed with the use of Rundle Stone from Canmore, Alberta, DIALOG also incorporated idyllic lakes and Alberta’s blue skies into design decisions. The last – and first – impressions of YYC are unforgettable and unequivocally characteristic of the region.
3. Go-Go Green: DIALOG was challenged to create a state-of-the-art sustainable design. The result? YYC’s annual energy consumption is reduced by 95% and annual greenhouse gas reduced by 62% using uncommonly used geo-thermal radiant floor heating/cooling, high performance double wall façade to trap heat and retain views, and rain water collection and reuse.
