Tyler Dixon Architect, AAA, AIBC, MRAIC, LEED® AP | Edmonton

Tyler has over 17 years of experience in a wide variety of roles and project types and has built a comprehensive understanding of architecture through design, technology, research, and public awareness. Tyler increased his international exposure by collaborating on a wide range of projects while working for firms in Turkey and Singapore. With strong roots in rural Alberta, Tyler appreciates the opportunity to bring this diversity of experience back to a local context, exploring what uniquely Albertan architecture might look like.

Tyler has been extensively involved in his community. He has lent his time and expertise to the Infill Development Edmonton Association (IDEA) for zoning and policy review, AAA policy review committees, advising the City of Edmonton’s zoning review, and is part of the Edmonton Organizing Committee for Urban Land Institute’s Alberta Chapter. He elevates the next generation of architects by mentoring interns for the Alberta Association of Architects, and has been a guest lecturer and practicum adviser for University of Alberta’s Art and Design program. Other community involvement includes AAA Banff Sessions organizing committee, Prairie Design Awards organizing committee, City Region Study Centre’s ‘Lost Spaces’ initiative, Edmonton Heritage Council, Media Architecture Design Edmonton (MADE), the Society of Northern Alberta Print-artists (SNAP), Northern Alberta Solar Society, and assisting with the formation of the Emerging Green Builders – CaGBC Alberta Chapter.

Tyler enjoys working on all aspects of a project, actively engaging with clients, consultants and contractors. With a background in Architectural Technology, he maintains an interest in design and material evolution, BIM, and closing the loop between representation, detailing, and construction.
