An interactive office design yields impressive return on public investment

The engagement process with AIMCo started as an effort to develop a functional program and provide feasibility plans for the various building options for lease. Key design principles were established very early and included an open and collaborative workstation layout with access to daylight, internal private offices with glazed fronts, an interconnecting staircase that connects the staff on four floors, LEED Silver certification, and a dynamic trading floor that forms the “hub” of the organization.

A four storey internal staircase connects all floors and helps promote staff interaction.

Mutual fun

As the investment business is fluid and fast paced, the office environment is designed to be flexible, collaborative and thought provoking. Amenity coffee bars are located within the interconnected staircase on each floor and dynamic spaces such as the trading floor, project rooms, training room and staff lunchroom are located in close proximity to the stairs.

Taking stock

Quieter meeting and lounge spaces are further from the stairs, to enable independent work.

For interest

Lighting playfully abstracts the geometry of ticker tape in the central corridors, while wall graphics reference subjects of financial relevance.
