Reaching 242 m into the Calgary sky, Brookfield Place will be the tallest skyscraper in Western Canada.
The architecture of Brookfield Place provides contemporary modernist composition with clarity of expression and enduring character on the Calgary skyline. It is sophisticated in its form, with rounded and tapered corners from top to bottom and a curved tower ‘crown’ with frameless, low-iron clear glass.
- Public realm
The public realm that anchors Brookfield Place is unprecedented in Calgary, providing over half an acre of sunlit, south-facing public plaza. Enhancing this huge public space will be a 4,645 sq. m. glazed urban pavilion that embraces the plaza. A civic square that is programmed year round connects to Calgary’s +15 network, one of the world’s most extensive pedestrian skywalk systems. This plaza is an animated space for planned and spontaneous uses, from an informal coffee on the pavilion theatre steps to a full gala dinner.
- Building skin
Brookfield Place is wrapped in a smooth, frameless, high efficiency curtain wall with vision panel glazing. This allows ample natural light, maximizing views and creating a clean architectural expression. The glazing also helps to reduce the environmental and economic impacts associated with energy use.
- Designing for green
This LEED Core & Shell Gold Certified building incorporates sophisticated sustainable features throughout. These include Energy Star roofing, durable building finishes, recycled content, regional materials, energy efficient lighting, occupancy sensors, low VOC materials, rainwater storage, high efficiency base building systems, access to public transportation, and electric vehicle charging stations.
