Carlsberg Brewery
Bringing the Quarter Back
An international team brings forward a bid to revitalize an historic part of downtown Copenhagen.
- Pre-game
DIALOG was the only North American participant pre-invited to submit for an international ideas competition to redevelop the historic Carlsberg Brewery in downtown Copenhagen.
- Leadership
The team, led by DIALOG, included Phillips Farevaag Smallenberg Landscape Architects, and several Danish firms.
- Mixology
The team proposed transforming the site and its heritage structures into a self-sustaining community mixing various kinds of residential space with commercial, retail and institutional programs.
- Flowing like water
The building would be set within a framework of streets, squares, courts and gardens lending local character to the development while also managing stormwater and improving the overall ecological health of the site and its surroundings.
- Post-game
The team’s vision saw Carlsberg becoming a model of sustainable development that would draw international development attention.
