Earls Head Office
Earls…..Where the parrot began
Earls Head Office
- Brand infusion
The design intent was to create an office environment that reflected the brand displayed within Earls’ many popular North American restaurant locations. The result is a shining example of a brand infused in the experience of a space.
- Building shape
This project was a design collaboration between the Earls Restaurant design team and the DIALOG design team. A very space-efficient plan was created to accommodate Earls’ aggressive growth projection. This was also necessary and made challenging from a design perspective, given the odd shape of the building.
- Historic roots of street cars and banks
With so many ideas to draw from, the design and planning of this project looked at sightlines, and scale to create a journey through the space that enabled a new surprise at every turn. Located in a heritage restoration building (the space was the BC Electric Company back when all the electric street cars in the city used to run under this building, and a former bank, complete with 3000lb safe), the challenge was to retain the inherent historic character of the space, and bring out the ‘patina’ with a vintage-inspired palette. Design elements were layered into the project specifically to allow the Earls group to interchange decorative elements on an as-needed basis.
- It’s in the vault
The office also doubles as an event space for the company, with a lounge area, DJ booth located in the existing steel bank safe, open collaborative bar and kitchen, and meeting spaces. The team created a social kitchen used for social gatherings, fun Fridays and marketing events.
