Wellness in the Workplace
Offices, Conference Centre, Wellness Centre
- Conference and Technology
One of the key directives from the Nexen Executive was to create a conference facility that reflects Nexen’s emerging culture and establish their unique identity. It was to house state of the art technology and engage both staff and visitors yet be welcoming and comfortable. Consideration of LEED® directives, penetration of light, acoustic control and clear separation of public and privates areas were defined as attributes necessary for success. DIALOG has been working with Nexen for a number of years on the continued development and evolution of their work environments. Our project portfolio with Nexen is extensive with a focus on the development of their “Workplace of the Future” because their employees come first. Exploration into the future has been facilitated through the design mock up process. Testing innovation in the “experiential workplace” strategy within their existing environment includes staff feedback which has proved highly successful in refinement of final solutions.
The initiative for this project was to develop a space for the Nexen employees to break away for an individualized program of health and fitness. The Wellness Centre is a place to de-stress, unwind and take a break from the work day. A variety of fitness gear, including free weights, cardio equipment and TRX training are available. Spaces for fitness classes and massage or physio treatments have been included. The project location required high performance acoustic design between the building floor plates which was successfully designed and detailed to prevent sound or vibration transfer.
