Sanderling Drive Pedestrian Overpass
One of Canada’s first uses of ultra-high-performance concrete achieves a state-of-the-art structure.
- Long view
Extends approximately 110 m, with a 64 m clear span over Calgary's Country Hills Blvd, giving motorists an unobstructed view along the busy throughway.
- Better beams
A continuous beam structural system eliminates the need for bearings and expansion joints over the boulevard and avoids related maintenance concerns.
- Slim fit
Ultra high performance concrete is used in the 34 m drop-in girder because of its high compressive and tensile strength, allowing for a slender T-section.
- Rock solid
Three-dimensional computer modeling and dynamic analysis allowed vibration and wind effects to be minimized, thereby enhancing pedestrian comfort.
