University of Alberta – Student Union Building
University of Alberta’s Students’ Union Building (SUB) gets a breath of fresh air with a new atrium, patio and expanded study and social spaces.
- More space to think
The SUB addition and renovation expands and enlivens student spaces on the main floor and lower level by interconnecting the two floors with a two-storey glazed atrium at the front entry.
- Outdoor space
The atrium is framed by a new tiered and landscaped forecourt. Exterior landscaped terraces extend into the atrium's tiered casual seating, bringing the outside in.
- Student services
The lower level has smarter access to student-led services and provides the lounge, retail and office spaces to better serve over 400 student groups on campus.
- Set up for (even more) success
The renovation allows SUB to address weak spots that developed over their 40+ year history, and better set it up to service the student population in the future.
