DIALOG partners with CAMH on mental health initiative
DIALOG is proud to announce our partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in the development and launch of a first-of-its-kind, a user-friendly Workplace Mental Health Playbook for Business Leaders.
The initiative is designed to help guide companies across Canada to support their employees in ways that promote their mental health, wellbeing, and continued productive contributions at work as well as within their communities as a whole. Equally important is supporting and fostering a workplace culture that’s free of the stigma that can sometimes surround mental health issues.
The initiative will also allow DIALOG to serve as a role model for our industry, partners, and clients, as well as fulfill the broader role that all employers have in supporting their workforce.
CAMH, headquartered in Toronto, is Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world’s leading research centres in its field. CAMH conducts ground-breaking research, provides expert training to health care professionals and scientists, develops innovative health promotion and prevention strategies, and advocates on public policy issues with all levels of government.
In any given year, one in five Canadians will experience a mental illness, including addiction. But stigma and discrimination can make employees hesitant to disclose their mental illness at work and can prevent them from getting the help they need. Together with CAMH, we’re committed to learning more and making progress on this important issue.
The Workplace Mental Health Playbook for Business Leaders provides a path to more effective solutions and better outcomes for employees and businesses through five powerful recommendations. The recommendations include strategies such as creating an organization-wide mental health strategy, instituting mandatory mental health leadership training, and develop tailored mental health support. These recommendations are based on the best available evidence, and were shaped by feedback from business leaders as well as CAMH researchers, clinicians, and experts.
The Playbook will initially be rolled out with DIALOG’s leaders and shared with our coaches across our five studios as we adopt and implement CAMH’s recommendations that align with our culture and ways of working.
