DIALOG Vancouver Awards Inaugural Engineering Scholarship

March 13, 2020

On February 5, 2020, our Vancouver studio awarded the inaugural University of British Columbia DIALOG Graduate Scholarship in Structural Engineering to Pouria Kourehpaz.

Vancouver structural engineering principals Fadi Ghorayeb and Thomas Wu, along with Jim Montgomery, DIALOG structural engineering Partner Emeritus from Edmonton, were on hand to present this prestigious award to Pouria. The $5,000 prize will go towards Pouria’s PhD program in structural engineering at UBC.

This year’s recipient was chosen from a field of nine applicants. Senior members of the DIALOG structural engineering team reviewed the applications and rated them based on criteria such as interest in the structural engineering field, especially building or bridge engineering; demonstrated potential as a researcher; overall academic record; communication skills; and community involvement.

The scholarship was established in partnership with UBC in 2019. It is intended to encourage students to pursue advanced study in structural engineering, and will be awarded annually to a student entering the first year of an MEng, MASc, or PhD program in structural engineering at the university.

Applications for the 2021 University of British Columbia DIALOG Graduate Scholarship in Structural Engineering will be accepted starting November 1, 2020.
