Our Team
Marion LaRue Partner, Architect BArch | BES | Architect AIBC | CAB (California) | AIA | LEED® AP Vancouver

Marion brings extensive leadership experience to our complex architectural projects. Her areas of expertise are sports, recreation, public, and institutional projects, with a concentration on design, management, and procurement. Marion is passionate about creating environments that inspire people to take ownership of their health and wellbeing. She enjoys working collaboratively with clients to deliver spaces and solutions that support and promote healthy, balanced lifestyles. Her mission has taken shape through seminal projects such as the LEED® Silver speed skating oval for the community of Richmond, BC, the official speed skating venue for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver that has won 35 global awards.

In alignment with her vision for healthier future generations, Marion is working on student residences and dining commons for Simon Fraser University, the Vivo for Healthier Generations recreation centre in Calgary, a student housing facility for North Island College on Vancouver Island, sports feasibility studies for the City of Calgary, and an aquatics / ice arenas addition for the Town of Edson in Alberta.

You can expect a warm, collegial design experience with rigorous attention to detail when working with Marion. She is an advocate for the advancement of women in our industry and a champion and mentor for young women designers who lead by example. Marion supports open workplace discussions on gender issues and hopes to build a revolutionary standard for gender neutrality across our entire team.

Marion also currently serves as a member of the Governing Council, an elected body within the Partnership, responsible for the stewardship in the long-term interests and wellbeing of DIALOG.

What’s your favourite DIALOG initiative?
My favourite DIALOG initiative is ASPIRE. It gives us an opportunity to collaborate and have a design conversation that inspires each of us to deliver innovative design solutions for tomorrow.

If you were to change your career, what would you do instead?
I would want to be one of DIALOG’s clients – it’s the next best position to be in to change the world!

What’s one quote you live by?
“Always take the high road and, in so doing, treat others as you would like to be treated.”

"I am inspired when I get to work with a team and a client who have a strong project vision, through which we can deliver more wellbeing to communities than had previously been imagined.
